Need advice on supercharging my Bullitt… what else should I consider?

I’m thinking about supercharging my Bullitt. The kit I found includes everything like Whipple’s Gen 6 3.0L supercharger, high-flow fuel injectors, high-flow fuel pump, 132mm billet throttle body, high-flow billet fuel rails, calibration, and all the pre-formed and fitted hoses with necessary wiring for an easy installation.

The car is stock right now, so what else should I plan for? I assume not everything in the car is built to handle the extra power. Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated!

You shouldn’t need anything else for the engine itself. It should be fine with the added power. A good tune and suspension upgrades are the main things you’ll need.

Doesn’t Whipple include a tune with their kit?

You’ll want to think about an OPG (Oil Pump Gears) and crank sprocket. Also, consider a new clutch, transmission, half shafts, and a stop-the-hop kit. And definitely stock up on rear tires.

Are you saying I’ll need a new transmission too?

@Diya
All the parts CK mentioned are good if you’re running 93 octane. My setup makes about 650ish at the wheels, and I’m still on the stock clutch and axles, with no stop-the-hop kit. I also added headers and a catch can for engine protection. The OPG, headers, and catch can are all about keeping the engine safe. If you plan on really pushing the car (like drag racing), then the driveline upgrades are a good idea, but I’d go for axles, stop-the-hop, clutch, and transmission in that order.

If you’re just doing some roll races or highway pulls, you probably don’t need to worry about all those upgrades.

One thing to note, headers (whether catless or with cats) are a really important safety mod. If a stock cat fails, it can clog the exhaust and lead to serious engine damage. OPG failures can be bad too, but they seem rarer these days.

The base Whipple kit has everything you need. You won’t need oil pump gears. A clutch and upgraded transmission will be needed with the added power, but the stock ones can handle it as long as you don’t use drag radials.

@Sydney
I keep hearing about upgrading the transmission. Any suggestions on what I should get? How much should I realistically expect to spend on that?
