Lectron CCS to NACS Adapter Stuck in Charge Port

Making this post as I was unable to find a fix for this exact issue mentioned anywhere else.

I was able to use a slim plastic trim tool to disengage the lock in the highlighted area. It required a pretty significant amount of force while actively pushing in on the adapter (as to not stress the vehicle side of the charge port and push the lock mechanism in as far as possible). While a screwdriver would work well I wouldn’t recommend using something conductive.

I purchased this Lectron NACS to CCS adapter on Amazon within the first week of owning my Mach-E (October 27th 2024). I see now that the listing has been removed and I was issued an unrelated recall notification for the product on my Amazon account.

I found lots of posts about these adapter getting stuck on the Tesla side but not on the vehicle side. Hopefully Amazon won’t give me any difficulty with the return and this post can be useful to somebody in my same situation. If anyone has any information on a better adapter to purchase I am all ears!

Try pressing the button in the middle of the lit circle to unlock the adapter. It works for me when I’m done charging.

Let us know how that works. I usually hit unlock and wait for the light to stop flashing before pulling it out.

If it’s still stuck, check for the manual release under the right-side frunk panel.

Here’s a video explaining how to release it: https://youtu.be/S2rcHJRmAdU?si=zbCOmj6iBlO-BUwD. It shouldn’t be this hard, but it might help.

There’s a way to remove the frunk panels to access a manual release. I saw it on Munro Live or another EV YouTube channel.

This issue has been discussed on several EV forums, including Chevy and Rivian. Some users contacted Lectron customer service, who confirmed certain units affected by a May 2024 recall didn’t reach Amazon. You might want to notify Lectron CS to ensure they’re aware of your issue.

This might relate to this recall: Check for Recalls: Vehicle, Car Seat, Tire, Equipment | NHTSA. The recall suggests the latch might fail either by not unlocking or by releasing unintentionally.

That could be it. The latch might be failing in a way that causes either issue.

Had the same problem. Amazon allowed me to return it, but the refund takes 30 days, so I’m stuck until I can order another one.

This is why Ford and Tesla advise against using unauthorized third-party adapters.

Ford is sending Lectron adapters, so they must approve of those.

Those adapters were made specifically in partnership with Ford. Third-party adapters on Amazon are not authorized.

I had a similar issue at a generic Level 2 charger. Ended up using a gloved hand and a screwdriver to get it out. Now I keep a flat-head screwdriver in my trunk, but it hasn’t happened again.

Is Hero World LTD an authorized seller for Lectron? You might have purchased a counterfeit product.

I work at a dealership and have seen a lot of Lectron adapters. No red flags on this one, but it’s possible.

I’m scared to use the adapter Ford sent.

The Ford-sent adapter is different from the Amazon one the OP is using.
