Making this post as I was unable to find a fix for this exact issue mentioned anywhere else.
I was able to use a slim plastic trim tool to disengage the lock in the highlighted area. It required a pretty significant amount of force while actively pushing in on the adapter (as to not stress the vehicle side of the charge port and push the lock mechanism in as far as possible). While a screwdriver would work well I wouldn’t recommend using something conductive.
I purchased this Lectron NACS to CCS adapter on Amazon within the first week of owning my Mach-E (October 27th 2024). I see now that the listing has been removed and I was issued an unrelated recall notification for the product on my Amazon account.
I found lots of posts about these adapter getting stuck on the Tesla side but not on the vehicle side. Hopefully Amazon won’t give me any difficulty with the return and this post can be useful to somebody in my same situation. If anyone has any information on a better adapter to purchase I am all ears!
This issue has been discussed on several EV forums, including Chevy and Rivian. Some users contacted Lectron customer service, who confirmed certain units affected by a May 2024 recall didn’t reach Amazon. You might want to notify Lectron CS to ensure they’re aware of your issue.
I had a similar issue at a generic Level 2 charger. Ended up using a gloved hand and a screwdriver to get it out. Now I keep a flat-head screwdriver in my trunk, but it hasn’t happened again.
