I’m at Chevron filling up my car, and fuel is pouring out everywhere under it. What could cause this?
Oh no, it’s raining and the top is down?
Posing the essential questions.
The rear appears a bit roughed up.
Yeah it’s a salvage from a pit maneuver.
I’ve heard of crack heads drilling into tanks to steal gas. Were you running really low for no reason?
They must have been quite dedicated thieves, I’d say. Gas thieves often target SUVs and trucks with higher ground clearance since it allows them to work more easily without needing a jack, unlike lower-profile cars. Honestly, it can be a real hassle to maneuver a drill and a large container under a low vehicle.
Those vehicles typically have a larger fuel capacity, which means there’s more fuel available to steal. Trust me, I know; I’m a petrol-stealing addict.
Popped out of the hole? For me, I never step away from the nozzle. Sure, I could automate it, but I prefer not to, especially in situations like this.
That or the handle doesn’t shut off when it’s full automatically like it’s supposed to.
How often has this happened to you?
I’m certain it happened at least once. I’m pretty sure it was only that one time.
Put a tourniquet on it.
