Back with a New Ride

That’s a hot upgrade! :fire:

Congrats! I’m so glad you stuck with that color. I have a 2019 in this shade, and it looks amazing when it’s all cleaned up.

Thanks! It looks so close to my old one, which I loved. This one’s just upgraded with a supercharger and premium package. The color’s actually called Dark Matter Grey Metallic—looks a little darker than my last one. When I saw it listed, I didn’t even think twice and started signing papers right away :joy:

Honestly, I’m just relieved to move on from that outdated screen setup. This is such an upgrade.

You’re going to love the supercharger! I’m guessing it’s probably running a Roush tune. My advice? Switch to a VMP tune. I had Roush phase 1 to phase 3 on my 2014, and it ended up costing me a catalytic converter after just 1,500 miles. Roush wouldn’t cover it, even though the kit had a 3-year warranty. VMP was super helpful—sent me a tune, adjusted it after I sent logs, and the car’s been flawless since.

@Quince
Woke up having second thoughts :sweat_smile: I’m supposed to bring them the check tomorrow and pick it up, but now I’m wondering if I should back out. No warranty or even an option for an extended one is making me nervous. How reliable is the supercharger? Does it shorten engine life? What’s maintenance like? This will be my daily driver—I like to drive hard now and then but nothing extreme. No track days. I’m just realizing I didn’t think this through yesterday :man_facepalming: Would love your advice on this.

@Fox
The supercharger is solid. I stick to changing the oil every 5k miles. Ford Quick Lube does it for around $200, and they recommend 5w-50 oil. Spark plugs need replacing about every 30k miles—use the Roush-recommended NGK LTR71X-11 plugs. They cost around $63 on Amazon and are easy to swap out.

I drive pretty hard, and my car’s holding up great at 34k miles. No issues so far.

@Quince
I’ll definitely check out VMP, thanks for the heads-up!

Came back with a supercharger—nice move! :fire:

This is such a great story. Enjoy the car, and congrats!

LOL I recognize this—it’s from Tampa Ford, right?

Yup! I know a couple of higher-ups there, so I got a great deal. Worked out perfectly.

Good thing you had that connection. Veterans Ford usually has some steep prices!

Did they total out your old Mustang?
