Been raw dogging it for the past couple of years but finally wanna get something that’s effective but not gonna break the bank
Uniden R(x) Extreme series. I got an R7 a couple of years ago, would probably go with the R8 today. Yes they are expensive compared to others, but they are phenomenal. I thought of it like this, what would a speeding ticket cost me up front and with insurance increases.
Just remember the radar detector does jack shit in preventing accidents and death. It’s not a license to be a jackass. One feature I really like is that you can set a speed at which the nanny kicks in and tells you to slow your ass down. When you accelerate quick it’s very easy to overshoot an intended speed.
@Dillon
Exactly. It’s well worth the $500-800 price tag. It saves you money in tickets and insurance premium increases due to said tickets.

Uniden R8
I have the R8 and it’s saved me on the highway so much.
I just use Waze, hasn’t let me down yet (but I’m cheap and lazy)
Uniden R3/4 cheaper than R7/8 and still very good. My R4 will pop off from a cop miles down the road
Uniden R4 + Waze is a pretty effective combo. Learn what type of radar the LEOs use in your driving areas. Hopefully it’s primarily Ka, but if not the Uniden does a pretty good job filtering K band from blind spot monitoring systems.
The R8 is essentially an R4 but with the addition of arrows. I get along just fine without arrows but up to you and your budget for what will work best.
Second all of the Uniden recommendations. Been running the R3 for a couple years now works great plus the GPS with red light/speed cameras is a plus
Uniden R3, R7 or R8 are all awesome. Pair that with Waze running in the background and you’re set.
In the meantime, use Waze …
