This is exactly what I do and have been doing on all my Fords. My last '12 5.0 is still going strong at over 120k miles, my buddy owns it. And my current '20 5.0 the same, it’s past 20k miles now. I’ve been doing this with all my Fords since 1992, never had a motor issue. I know some people like the new NG Pennzoil and Amsoil, but I change my oil every 5k-7k miles. I swear by Motorcraft filters and Mobil1 synthetic oil.

I run the same, but with a Wix Filter.
As long as it’s synthetic, it’s all pretty much the same. Oil works the same with every brand/store brand. They’re all made in the same place, just in different bottles. The only real difference is the additives, and if you’re changing full synthetic every 5k, the wear protection will be about the same for all of them.
The cheapest full synthetic I can find:
- 0W-30 in winter
- 0W-40 in summer since I take it to the track. 2021 GT PP1
Royal Purple
Fresh synthetic. Most modern oils are good. But 10k oil changes are bad no matter the brand.
Amsoil 5w50
The Mobil 1 12qt box is exactly what I need for the Mustang and commuter.

My GT500 alone uses that 12qt box!
I’m running Motorcraft 5w-50, but that’s what my Ford Performance dealer recommended because of the high temps my engine hits with a supercharger.
