Not a Mustang owner YET, but I’ve always been a huge fan of the ‘stangs and I’ve been lurking here for quite some time. Shelby American has revealed the new 2025 GT350 which, you guessed it, is another boosted GT with a body kit.
Can either be manual or automatic
5.0 N/a 480hp or 5.0 w/3L Whipple 810hp
6 base colors and 4 stripe options
Forged wheels and lowering springs
Ducktail spoiler or pedestal wing
Custom Shelby interior and exterior changes
I’m totally let down by this because not only is it extremely similar to the Super Snake that was revealed in 2024, it’s just a fancy GT… I was hoping they would continue to build on the 5.2 Voodoo platform and keep the 350 unique like the S550 350 was, and work with Ford to produce them in-house, but nope.
Shelby auto is an aftermarket company like Saleen and Roush. It is always going to be a modded GT. They have done this before. This is different from the actual Ford-made GT350 which isn’t going to happen since the Dark Horse took that spot.
Yeah. To be honest, every time MotorTrend or Car and Driver tested a Shelby product it has always been slower than the cheaper Ford product. Look up the Supersnake in I think 2013 vs the regular GT500. The Supersnake had over 800hp and the Shelby had about 662hp and the Ford product was faster with a higher trap speed.

I thought the Dark Horse took over for the Mach 1? We have yet to see a GT350 equivalent for the S650.
Yeah and Mach 1 took the GT350 spot. The Dark Horse is pretty much a Mach 1. They even put up near identical times even though the Dark Horse has more power. It started with the PP2 GT, then Mach 1 and now Dark Horse. Trust me when I tell you, a Dark Horse at 70k doesn’t leave room for a GT350 and GT500. Unless you think a GT500 is going to be 200k and a GT350 100k … lol
Just because it seems like some people are confused. Shelby American is not a factory Ford built Shelby. Ford may or may not build a GT350 or GT500 this generation but most of what Shelby American sells are modified Mustang GTs or F150s with a huge markup.
All that to say this is not “The new GT350” it’s a Shelby American GT350.
I haven’t looked at it in detail, but from what you described, I would be disappointed too. I am a hardcore fan of the S550 GT350s (like, they are literally my dream car), and I was also really hoping they’d continue the uniqueness of that. The Voodoo, the fact that it was a consummate driver’s car that paralleled much more expensive European cars, etc. This doesn’t seem to echo that at all.
@Gavin
I completely agree! I haven’t gotten a Mustang yet because I want a 350. Unfortunately, they are a tad pricey for me at the moment but hopefully sometime this year I can get in one. The S550 350 has been my dream car since I rode in one back in 2016 and I got to actually drive one like I want to a couple months ago and I was sold. Such an amazing experience.
I understand your disappointment but this isn’t an in-house development like the S550 Shelby’s were. They are in the same boat as Roush or Saleen, they are a Mustang tuner now. This is what they can reasonably do.
