Hey everyone, I’m seriously considering the 2025 Mach E, but I’m a bit hesitant because of the touchscreen. From the videos I’ve seen, it looks slow and laggy compared to some other cars. For those of you who have one or know about it, how’s the screen in real-world use? Has Ford done anything to improve it?
It’s not super fast, but it doesn’t really matter when you’re driving. It might take a moment to boot up, but Android Auto and CarPlay work fine once it’s running. You’re not staring at the screen the whole time anyway.
@Hank
Yeah, same here. I haven’t had any real issues with it.
You’re buying a car, not a tablet.

But the car relies on the screen for almost everything. It’s like driving a car controlled by an underpowered tablet. Ford should’ve upgraded the hardware years ago.
It can be slow at times, especially when you first start the car. It takes 10-20 seconds before I can adjust the heat or AC. Switching between apps can also lag a bit, but if you use Android Auto like I do, it’s not as noticeable.
Honestly, it’s the best car UI I’ve used. No major lag for me, even with Android Auto or the built-in navigation.

Same here. My old Honda Accord’s screen would freeze up constantly. This is way better in comparison.
The touchscreen is the one thing I don’t like about the car. It’s just so slow and laggy. If the 2025 models still have this issue, that would be disappointing.

I agree. My 2022 is painfully slow sometimes. I’m always waiting for the screen to load so I can open the liftgate. No idea if the 2025 is better.
Edit: People seem to downvote any criticism, but it’s important for potential buyers to know about these issues.
@Finnley
What do you mean by waiting for the screen to be painted? That might’ve confused some folks.

In software, ‘painting’ refers to rendering the user interface on the screen. It just means the screen is loading and updating.

If you’re talking about the boot-up screen, I just use the exterior button to open the liftgate before I even get in. Maybe try that?
My Mach E is in the shop, and I got a 2024 Explorer as a loaner. Let me tell you, the Android Automotive system in the Explorer is miles better than what’s in the Mach E. Ford really needs to update it.
I use CarPlay 99% of the time. It’s not as fast as an iPad, but it’s fine once it’s loaded. My old Jeep’s Uconnect was worse.
I’ve had my 2024 for about a month, and I haven’t noticed any lag so far.
I use CarPlay all the time and haven’t noticed any lag. I’m a programmer, so I usually notice these things, but it’s been fine for me.
The screen really isn’t that slow, especially in normal use.
Every now and then, it asks me to pick a phone for Android Auto, which is a little annoying. There used to be some static switching between Spotify and Sirius, but that seems to have been fixed. By the time I buckle up and get settled, it’s ready to go.
The only lag I’ve noticed is when switching from Sirius to CarPlay the first time. Otherwise, it’s been the most stable system I’ve used—no crashes or random reboots.
