@Tully
I was hospitalized recently, and the doctor literally said, ‘I had to Google your cancer.’ It’s that rare.
@Tully
I’m in cancer research, and I’ve never even heard of DSRCT before.

Let’s make it happen. We need folks with media savvy, social media skills, and PR experience. ‘Drive for Life’ sounds perfect. What’s next?
Here’s the idea: A cross-country Mustang drive, stopping at children’s hospitals for parades or even giving kids rides (safely, of course). We’d raise funds for DSRCT research and get the Mustang community involved.
We’d need to plan a route with stops at major children’s hospitals, find volunteers, and make sure safety is a top priority.
Let’s see who’s interested in joining and who can help organize this.
@Bali
If you’re passing through Tulsa, I’m in. There’s a great children’s hospital here, and I’d love to join the drive. I could also meet you in Dallas or KC if needed.
@Bali
If it comes through my area, I’d love to join in, even if I can’t do the full cross-country trip. Good luck!
@Bali
I’m so excited about this! Let’s make it happen!
@Bali
This is an amazing idea! I’ve never heard of DSRCT, but I’m so sorry you’re going through this. You’re in my prayers.
@Bali
I love this idea and would definitely join. Social media would be a huge help, and we’d need someone to make a killer ad.
@Bali
We could have a ‘Relay’ leg for people who can’t do the full drive. OP, do you know any organizations that put funds toward research or directly help patients?

I love the relay idea! The Cleveland Clinic and Sloan Kettering are leading the way in DSRCT research. There are also some charities started by families who’ve lost loved ones to this disease that we could support.

No reason not to burn some rubber!
Everyone dies, but not everyone oversteers into a telephone pole.

I can’t die from cancer if I die in a car crash first!
I’m sorry to hear about your diagnosis. F*** cancer. Enjoy that Mustang to the fullest!

Thank you. It actually means a lot. I lost my wife to a rare cancer in 2019, and it was brutal for my daughter and me. The support I’ve received from strangers has been overwhelming and has meant the most.
It’s funny, but people I don’t know have done the most for me since my diagnosis—sending books, bringing food, blankets, and gift cards. Even a church I’ve never been to came by with things to help. It’s been amazing.
Close friends don’t always know how to react, but the kindness of strangers is something I’ll never forget.
@Bali
You’re right; not everyone truly lives. I hope this Mustang is just the beginning of many great things for you. Thanks for reminding me to make the most of life.
@Bali
Life isn’t fair. I’m sorry for what you and your family are going through. But enjoying an NA V8 is definitely one way to spend your time. If I were in your shoes, I’d take as many road trips as I could and then pass the car on to keep the memories alive.
This is why I always back in.
Your story reminded me of a classic meme with Charlie Brown and Snoopy sitting on a dock. Charlie says, ‘We will all die one day, Snoopy.’ And Snoopy replies, ‘But on all the other days, we won’t.’
Cliché, maybe, but it’s always resonated with me. Glad you got your Mustang. Enjoy every moment!
It’s gorgeous! Enjoy!
