That sounds rough, and it definitely makes me lean more toward manual. Thanks for the input.
Make sure you get the Tremec, as the standard GTs come with the MT82.

Honestly, as someone who’s never driven a manual, the MT82 issue seems overblown here. It’s not that bad. OP might not have the budget for the Mach 1 upgrade anyway.
@Toryn
When you start driving manual, you’ll understand what I mean. It’s not that the MT82 is terrible, but the Tremec is so much better, and even with the price difference, it’s worth it.

Maybe. You could also get a short shifter like MGW to fix most of the MT82 issues, I’ve heard.
Manual… you want to drive, don’t you?
Drive both. I hated the MT82 enough to trade it for an auto after a few months.
Manual.
If you’re racing, manual makes more sense. But honestly, the 10-speed is faster and stronger, so I’d prefer that. I wouldn’t enjoy shifting all the time in traffic, though. If I were racing, I’d go manual, but for daily use, auto seems easier.
If you’re in heavy traffic every day, auto might be the better choice. But if traffic is occasional, manual all the way.
I’ve got the 10-speed auto, and I love it. I’m in ATL, so traffic is bad, but I do wish I had a manual sometimes because I love drifting and sliding the car. But either way, you’ll love the GT, auto or manual.
Manuals are more fun, and they act as an anti-theft device. Autos might be faster, but you lose control. Plus, paddle shifters are just terrible. I live in Hawaii with terrible drivers, and stop-and-go traffic is miserable, so auto would make more sense. But if you’re out on the open road, manual all the way.
I’ve had manuals my whole life, but when I got my current car (2022 GT), I got the automatic. I haven’t regretted it yet, even with all the stop-and-go traffic. At the end of the day, it’s a GT. Just enjoy it.
