The shop near me gave this quote for replacing my pads and rotors on the front and rear brakes. Is this amount reasonable?
You should try doing it yourself to save a lot

I got the parts for around 800 to 900 dollars, not including the jack and torque wrench.

Where are you buying your parts? I bet you can find them cheaper at Rock Auto.
@Darby
Yes, Rock Auto has premium pads and rotors for all four corners for about 400 dollars.

That price is similar to mine. The pads were around 300 dollars. I got G Loc pads and I’m really happy with them.
@Darby
I use carparts.com and haven’t had any problems. They usually have some great prices.
@Darby
You can find the cheapest brakes on eBay and they’re surprisingly good quality. I’ve put them on three cars and haven’t had any squeaks or issues. Stopping power is great too.

If it’s a daily driver and not a performance car, then sure.
This just shows why I prefer to handle my own repairs.
Do it yourself unless your car is under warranty or if it has drum brakes. Drum brakes are troublesome. Your situation should be straightforward though.

+1 for the dislike of drum brakes.
@Alva
+2 for drum brakes being awful.

Drum brakes on a semi-truck aren’t too bad, but from what I can gather, they’re a lot worse on cars?
@Adonis
Definitely much worse.

Drum brakes are annoying, but if you know how to adjust them properly, they don’t take too long to change. It takes me about 25 minutes.
I’ll help you out for BBQ, if you can cook.
You should compare prices. They might be charging you too much for the parts.
Labor charges are reasonable. The parts, however, are way overpriced. Check Rock Auto; I’ve seen rotors for about 50 dollars each in the rear, 100 dollars in the front, and pads for around 20 dollars per set. You might be able to supply your own parts.
