Changed the air filter on my GT, and this was way harder than necessary. The angle was terrible, and the cherry on top was needing a T11 to remove the bolt. Rant over.
As easy as the engine air filter is, the cabin filter feels like a medieval torture device.
On my old Hondas, you just slide them in and out like a tray after dropping the glove box. So much simpler.
Same for Hyundai Genesis Coupes. Just drop the glovebox, and it’s right there. A Phillips head screwdriver is all you need.
It never gets easier. Same frustration every time.
Now I understand why dealerships charge $300 for an air filter replacement.
Focus ST has the same issue.
I’m a mechanic, and I’ve never seen a T11 Torx size. Are you sure it wasn’t T10? If it is T11, I’d love to know where you found the tool.
There has to be a trick to it. I’ve owned my ‘15 since new, and it’s still a pain. My hand barely fits in the gap.
This is for the cabin air filter? WTF?
Flexible extensions are a lifesaver for those screws. Makes a big difference and worth upgrading your tool set.
I feel your pain. Replacing mine was torture because of my big hands. My Corolla’s cabin filter, by contrast, was a breeze—5 minutes tops.
Wait, people actually change their cabin air filters?
F150 is cake compared to this.
Your mom made this harder than it needed to be. Lmao, gottem!
