Doug Demuro’s review of the classic Ford Mustang

Doug takes a look at the original Mustang, showing off all the quirks and details. It’s awesome seeing him cover a classic!

Haven’t watched Doug in a while. I prefer his videos on older cars over the new ones. Can’t wait to see all the unique features on this classic!

The rear mirror has a day/night feature… you twist the handle, and the mirror tilts down a bit. Works just like in modern cars!

THIIIIIIIS… is such a great review of the first-gen Mustang :racehorse:! I didn’t realize the blinkers didn’t cancel on their own. Doug seemed to really love this car. I’d love to see him review more classics.

It’s so cool to see Doug appreciate such an iconic classic.

I used to own one! My first car was a ‘64 1/2 hardtop, had it from ‘89 to early ‘93.

Driving around town was fine, but on the highway, the engine revved a lot higher than you’d expect in a modern car. It didn’t have overdrive—just a 3-speed automatic, so at 65 mph, it was running around 3000 RPM. Mine had glass pack mufflers, so it was loud when accelerating. Not super fast by today’s standards, but that V8 sound was everything.

Braking was the scariest part! Mine had 4-wheel drum brakes, and stopping was a real challenge. I’d see cars braking in front of me and have to start slowing down way earlier, hoping I’d stop in time. Plus, brake fade was bad, and going through deep puddles reduced braking power too.

Starting it up was a ritual too—had to pump the gas and use the choke. No modern car would have you do that anymore!

This was not a real GT. Prior owner made it into a GT clone.
