Best tires for a daily supercharged Mustang?

I picked up a Roush supercharged Mustang a few weeks ago. I’m looking for tires that can help with traction when I do occasional pulls but are also good for daily driving in the rain (I’m in Florida).

Currently running stock 255/275 on Pirelli PZeros, but I’m not super impressed with them compared to the PS4s I had before. I want to switch to rims that can fit at least 305s on the rear. What’s the max size I could run without issues? I’ve read 285/305 is common, but they won’t fit on the PP1 rims. I also plan to install Steeda Progressive springs and don’t want tire fitment issues. Any advice is appreciated!

275/315 with Mickey Thompson ET Street tires would be my pick. If you want something more street-friendly, PS4s are a solid option. You’ll need to adjust your wheel offset for proper fitment since 315s can stick out if not set up right.

@Thorn
Make sure you research wheel setups thoroughly. It can really change the car’s look.

ET Street S/S worked great for me, even in rain, with 650hp. Just pump them up to 28 psi for highway driving and 24/25 psi for city.

Exactly! I ran them on my Whippled S550 without any issues.

@Thorn
Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll check them out.

I’m considering 305s or 315s (19x11) with one-inch lowering springs on my 2019 GT. What’s your setup? Worried about rubbing.

On my S650, I’m running 20x10/11 with 275/305. You’ll be fine. Just make sure to get camber/caster plates for proper alignment.

@Thorn
ET Streets are great for racing but aren’t ideal for cold or damp conditions. In heavy rain, you could easily lose traction even at low speeds.

Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 is fantastic in wet conditions.

I’ve heard great things about them too. I definitely need to try them out.

Just to clarify, I know a drag pack would offer the best traction, but I’m not planning to run one right now.

Check out the Mach 1 handling package wheels. They’re 315 in the rear and 305 in the front, I think. Good offset and works well with PS4s or maybe even Mickey Thompsons.

Get an 11-inch-wide rear wheel and run a 305 or wider tire. I use Mickey Thompson Street Comps, and they hook better than the Nittos I had before.

Thanks! I’ll research the MTs more. What’s the main difference between them and Nittos?

@Vern
The main downside of MTs is they don’t do well in cold weather, but they’re summer tires, so it’s expected. I’ve never had rain issues with them. Nittos look better on the sidewall, though. It really depends on your setup.

@Rin
I’m in Florida, so cold weather isn’t a problem. Thanks for the insight! I’ll check out both options.

I run 285 Michelin All Season 4 Sports. They’re good in rain and cold but can still feel sketchy sometimes. I’ve got 586hp to the wheels, which is plenty for me. :joy:

Nitto INVO for rain and a quieter ride. Or go Nitto drag radials in the back and Nitto 555s up front.

Michelin Pilot Super Sports work great for my TVS Coyote. Dependable in the rain, but you’ve got to stay chill when it’s wet.
